without a doubt the most brilliant thing we did for our wedding was recreate photographs of our parents when they were about our age.
the idea came to me when we were in colorado visiting my grandfather last decemeber. looking through old photographs, i found what is now my absolute favorite picture of my parents. it was taken in january of 1979, on their honeymoon in estonia. the story behind it is that their friends had also taken a trip that weekend, but ran out of room at the hotel they were staying at, so they called my parents to see if they could crash at their hotel. on their honeymoon. hence my dad’s facial expression.
we found this photo of jason’s parents from 1976 from their trip to cadillac mountain in maine. we knew this picture would be perfect because jason literally owns the same shirt as his dad is wearing in the photo. and i knew i could rock jeanette’s sunglasses.
we had so much fun recreating these photos, even though it was about 80 degrees when we were dressed up in the hats and jackets standing in the middle of a busy road against a brick wall. we got a couple long stares, but that’s okay. our friend patti gunderson did the photography and editing. she’s a genius. we placed these photos on a table that everyone had to pass in order to get to the ceremony. they were a huge hit with out guests, and i’m pretty sure our parents freaked when they saw them. of all the things that we did for our wedding, this is the one that got the most compliments.
