This week was our first CSA pick up from King’s Hill Farm.
Let’s play my new favorite game: what’s in that bag.
Drumroll please:
Starting from the top and moving clockwise:
- Lovely spinach for salads and/or wilting and/or eating by the handful. It’s that crunchy and lovely.
- This one’s new for me, I’ve never cooked celeriac. Any brilliant recipes to share?
- A big bunch of chives will be spicing up our breakfasts this week.
- These salad turnips feel like they should sautéed in butter along with their greens.
- More asparagus. Not that I’m complaining. I’m thinking these will be blanched and then served with a poached egg as a side dish.
- And more rhubarb. I am definitely NOT complaining on this one. Upside down cake, ice cream, or something new?
- Potatoes, Jason will be happy. These will likely get roasted with some salt and pepper. Nothing fancy, still totally delicious.
- Another item I’ve never cooked myself (though eaten plenty of times) are sunchokes or Jerusalem artichokes. I’m liking this Sunchoke-Kale Hash from Food & Wine or this Sunchokes with Salsa Verde recipe from Bon Appetit.
- Last but not least, some lettuce mix. Salads are in our future.
