This post we dedicate to cheese. Not just this post though, our entire Sunday evening.
Last weekend was the eleventh annual celebration of Mark and Johnna’s most famous cheese party. Every year, we bite our nails with anticipation, worrying whether it’s even possible to top last year’s menu (or the year before that, or the year before that.) But every year we pull it off, and the party just gets better and better.
The party consists of nine courses, the main ingredient of which is, unsurprisingly, cheese. The instructions are as follows: if you’re bringing a course, only make enough for one small serving for each person, because each course has to be finished; if you’re attending but not assigned a course, bring wine and nothing else. Also memo to everyone: wear stretchy pants.
Traditionally I’ve been in charge of one of the courses, and this year I almost had to back out since I was out of town for basically a week and a half, returning with the boy (but sans Jason) just in time for the party. To keep things simple, I volunteered for the cheese course. Yes, there is a cheese course at the cheese party. Moderation is not a word we take kindly to here.
Sad news was that I had to sneak out of the party halfway through because someone who shall remain anonymous started throwing a fit, but I got to taste everything through the first course and it was divine. I left people in charge to take notes and photos, because I didn’t want to miss documenting it all.
Also side note, we’re going old school with iPhone photos and no real lighting, because sometimes you forget to charge your camera batteries when you’re out of town, but you just can’t not document the cheese party. But without further ado, the cheese party menu.
